“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
As we read through the Book of Acts we can see how the power of the Spirit was manifested in many ways and through many people. As the believers walked in the power of the Holy Spirit, they became known as the men who turned the world upside down!
The Bible teaches us that we who have believed in Jesus, and received Him as Lord and Savior, have that same power in US! We can turn-the-world-upside–down in many ways like they did. After all, the Holy Spirit chronicled those deeds in The Book of Acts for us to read in order to establish an example for us to follow!
It’s time we become more familiar with the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. We can do that by meditating on the scriptures and allowing the Holy Spirit to teach us all about Jesus; how He moved in the Spirit, how He walked in authority and love; how He never missed an opportunity to do good and heal, deliver, teach the Word and provide for the needs of the people! The Book of Acts follows the Gospels with the stories of those who knew and observed Jesus’ ministry and began to move in the Spirit as He did. Well, we can do that too! We can meditate on the Word and build those images of the Word into our hearts; images of power over demons and disease, seeing ourselves walking in authority and allowing God’s power to operate through us!
If we get full of the Word, the Spirit will work through us in amazing ways! He operated through Paul! He operated through Peter! Both of these men said several times that it was not any power or holiness of their own that brought about these powerful demonstrations of the Spirit! What they did have though was time with Jesus! And, that’s who we’re spending time with when we’re meditating on the Word! “The Word was with God and the Word was God!” (John1:1)
He’s the same God now as He was then! And He’s in you in the power of His Spirit!
