“But Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.” Mt. 12:25
Of all the devil’s tactics, one of his most effective ones is division. He knows that when people are united, they are capable of accomplishing anything they can conceive of. And, when Christians are united, they can do great damage to the devil’s operation because their authority over the devil is unquestionable. It was given to them by the Head of the Church in the great commission (Mk. 16:17)! This is what terrifies the devil so much, because he saw that happen over 2,000 years ago when twelve men turned the world upside down with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
So, the devil’s tactic – DIVIDE! Division at all costs! He does it in many ways and spares no expense at it by sowing seeds of discord, creating suspicion and resentment, lying and deception, implying some people are victims of injustice, and the list goes on… But it’s all done to accomplish one primary purpose – divide and conquer! All too many Christians fall into his traps and get offended and become another resource of the devil to work his poison. We need to sober up Church because there isn’t much time left to get this job done.
Jesus offered a way to counter the enemy’s divisive tactics. It will seem benign to the unbeliever, but to us who believe it’s the power of God – and that is to WALK IN FAITH! Faith is what unites us! FAITH is what pleases God! All the ministries of the church are for us to come into the unity of the FAITH! Let FAITH define you. Let FAITH correct you, mature you, empower you, and establish you in the power of God! The Bible never says anything about us coming into the unity of our doctrine. But it does tell us to come into the unity of our faith. FAITH is what pleases God, and Proverbs 16:7 says, that, “When a man’s ways are pleasing to the Lord (faith), He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” Your faith is a uniting force that terrifies the devil because he has no defense for it!
Let’s be on guard for seeds of division and discord. They are the seeds of the wicked one that are designed to steal the Word from us, kill our faith and destroy our hope. Our nation needs us to be unified. We need to be unified, and our heavenly Father works His power through our unified faith in the Word of God!
