Ephesians 5:26 “That he (Jesus) might sanctify and cleanse it (the Church) with the washing of water by the word.”
Many of us have experienced a church service where faith was high, and we left ready to conquer the world. What happened was we experienced a washing of the water of the Word of God. The negativity of the world lost its grip on our minds, the gunk of guilt, sin and the stench of the world was washed away. The cleansing power of the Word is amazing! Whenever we hear the anointed Word of God it will cleanse us. Our problems will seem smaller and our bad habits lose their strength over us. That is the liberating effect of Truth. It has the power to cleanse our soul from the lies that crept in, rewire our thinking and restore the reality of our oneness with God!
In order to keep ourselves in that cleansing flow of the Word, we need to live and abide in the Word. Jesus said to them, “…if you continue in My Word, then are you my disciples indeed, and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32)
Continuing in His Word and letting His Word abide in us means to:
- Keep Hearing the Word
- Keep Meditating on the Word
- Commit to Do the Word
- Keep Speaking the Word
These are the principles of the Law of Liberty we read in James 1:25. So, when life starts discouraging you; when you hear the words of fear and unbelief, and you feel isolated and powerless – It’s a lie! You have the law of liberty living in you that you can activate in one second! God has given you so much, and a cleansing soak in the Word of God is sometimes all we need to re-unite us with the ability of God in us! Next time you open the Word of God – get ready for the wonderful cleansing that comes from the living water of the Word!
