“For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,  and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.” John 5:26-27

The Bible teaches that man was given dominion and authority over all the earth. There were no caveats, no conditions, just pure authority. Even the devil couldn’t do anything in the earth without man’s cooperation. Remember, he had to get them to eat the forbidden fruit! When man sinned, he was still in authority and nothing could happen in the earth without man’s consent. But, through sin, man became willfully dominated by his new sin nature, and thus, the new god of this world enjoyed a front row seat for the systematic destruction of the apple of God’s eye – man!

The legal entry into this world is to be born into it. When Jesus was born into the earth, He had the birthright of man’s authority! He then proceeded to use His authority to systematically destroy the works of the devil! He destroyed the works of the devil by healing the sick and diseased! He raised the dead! He multiplied food! He brought the miraculous to the lame, deformed and deficient. And He did none of these things because He was the Son of God. He did them because He was the Son of Man. That’s right, in order to be our substitute, He had to divest Himself of everything that was rightfully His as the Son of God. He lived as a man. He was baptized in the Holy Spirit and used the gifts of the Spirit to dominate the devil, the elements of the earth, and redeem mankind.

He took our guilt on the whipping post and on the cross. He bore our shame. He took our sin, and our judgment as sinners, and deposited all in hell. There is no longer a judgment pending against those who are in Christ! Justice has been satisfied on our behalf. And, since He was not guilty of sin, the eternal sentence of death and hell passed from Him and slammed into the devil with such an impact, that when he hears the Name of Jesus, he has no choice but to back off! Just before Jesus went to the cross, He said, “The prince of this world is judged.” (John 16:11)

That’s the victory that Jesus wrought over sin, sickness, death, demons and fear! He redeemed us from the curse of it all and wiped the slate clean! Then He handed it all back to us, along with the keys of the kingdom, and said, “In My Name YOU cast our demons, YOU speak in new tongues! YOU lay hands on the sick. In My Name YOU cleanse the lepers and raise the dead! “Freely you have received; freely give!”

As a believer in Christ, we have the birthright of the firstborn from the dead and we are free to rule and reign in life with authority and power!

With Love,
