“That the communication of your faith might become effective by the acknowledgement of every good thing that is you in Christ Jesus.” Philemon 1:6

The Bible talks about many abilities, gifts, forces and fruits of various kind that reside in our recreated human spirit. The only way we can understand these new creation attributes is to look into the mirror of the Word of God. The Bible is our spiritual mirror. It tells us what we look like on the inside. As we study the Bible, we learn who we really are, what we have, what we can do and where we are. It tells us that we have spiritual fruit that reflects our new nature. These are attributes of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. As we gaze into this powerful Mirror, we become distinctly aware that we have indeed entered a new realm of life that is not of this world, and we have abilities that exceed the limitations of life as usual on planet earth.

So, when and how do we realize and experience these attributes, gifts and powers that reside in us? When do they come to the surface…? It happens when we begin to acknowledge them. When we find ourselves in different situations or encounter needs that are beyond our ability to remedy, is when we need to ACKNLOWLEDGE those good things that are in us. Perhaps a Word of Wisdom will surface, or a soft answer that calms someone’s anger. There is always a way to experience the good things that are in us in Christ if we are truly seeking to emulate the life and nature of Jesus and give the world an accurate reflection of who He is and what His will is.

Below are some of those good things that are in us….

1) Mind of Christ – I Cor. 2:16; 2) The Fruit of the spirit – Gal. 5:22-23; 3) The Gifts of the Spirit I Cor. 12:7-10; 4) The powers of the world to come – Heb. 6:5; 5) Eternal Life – Zoe; the life and nature of God: John 5:21; 6) Righteousness – II Cor. 5:21; 7) The Armor of God – Eph 6:11-17; 8) The Blessing of Abraham – Gal. 3:13-14; 9) The Holy Spirit – Eph. 1:13-14; 10) The Anointing of God – I John 2:20,27; 11) Treasure in our earthen vessel – 2 Cor. 4:7; 12) The Faith of God – Galatians 2:20

These things are in you if you are born again and the Holy Spirit has been given to us to teach us how these things operate and how we can use them to glorify God and magnify the Name of Jesus in order to further the kingdom of God!

With Love,
Pastor Tom
