“On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.  He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive” John 7:37-39

Jesus likened the Holy Spirit’s work within us to rivers of water. It’s interesting to note that without water there is no life, BUT wherever water is there is life! Rivers carry water that is needed to sustain life here on earth. On the other hand, the rivers of the living water from the Holy Spirit, bring us what is necessary to sustain the life of God within us.

Jesus did not say there would be a river flowing from within us. He said there would be RIVERS (plural) flowing from within us! Have you ever seen a large river, like the Hudson or Mississippi River? They’re huge! Large bodies of water (liquid) are able to reshape solid land masses. The waters of the Holy Spirit also change our inner landscape! If you need to change the landscape of your mind that was shaped by years of worldly thinking, or past failures and distorted images; the Holy Spirit was given to help you do that! If you need the landscape of your attitudes and opinions, misperceptions, or even the landscape of your physical health changed, it’s time to release the RIVERS of living water and let them restructure the landscape of your life!

How Do I Get Those Rivers Flowing?

When we release those rivers within us, revelation comes. Wisdom begins to reshape our expectations and faith becomes a way of life, instead of a theological debate. This leads us to the obvious question: How do we release those rivers inside us?  It’s very simple. Use what God has already given… Speak and pray in the tongues of the Spirit!

Some of the powerful benefits of praying and speaking in tongues are that…  We speak directly with God and we speak the mysteries, or secrets of God (I Corinthians 14:2). We sow to the Spirit whereby we receive harvests of the Spirit (Galatians 6:8). We give thanks well

(I Corinthians 14:17). We speak the wisdom of God (I Corinthians 2:6-7). We build up our most holy faith (Jude 20). We invoke help for our weaknesses (Romans 8:26). We pray the perfect will of God (Romans 8:27). We Gain Power over our flesh and carnal mind (Galatians 5:16). We are strengthened with might (dunamis) by His Spirit in our inner man (Ephesians 3:16).

The Holy Spirit is ready! Let’s cooperate with Him in the way the Bible instructs us to, and watch Him change the landscape of our lives, and we’ll be equipped to inspire change in others as they begin to see the real Jesus in us!

With Love,

Pastor Tom
